The Counseling Session:

The Interview Goals:

1. Identify all potential income and expenses
2. Identify and agree on problems relating to the current financial situation
3. Establish a realistic budget, including repayment of outstanding debt
4. Preservation or restoration of a good credit rating
5. Develop a plan of action for accomplishing financial independence

What You Must Do:

1. Initiate the contact with the servicing agency
2. Complete necessary paperwork and intake process
3. Both husband and wife should try to be present for the initial interview
4. Provide all requested materials for evaluation, i.e. pay stubs, credit card statements, list of all creditors, a preliminary budget, etc.
5. Have a complete commitment to the plan
6. Follow the plan as developed
7. Notify the CCCS office or counselor of any deviation from the plan and why
8. Reschedule follow up meetings with the counselor as necessary.
